SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

As Athena drains Natsu’s and Sting’s dragon power, Lucy and Yukino summon celestial spirits to attack. The surprise attack irritates Athena, who ponders if this is an emotion she’s feeling. However, Athena claims she has no emotions despite the feeling. Lucy uses her ability to create Star Dresses to boost her power.

This is a new ability for Yukino, but while she cannot combine two celestial spirits, she is able to do a single form to assist in the fight. Despite the devastating attacks, Athena emerges unscathed. The thought of killing Lucy and Yukino excites Athena. As such, she transmutes their emotions to terror, causing flames to burn them and their clothing. However, Lucy realizes the flames are an illusion.

Lucy challenges Athena’s belief that she doesn’t have emotions. As such, Lucy cites the emotions Athena has. To that end, Lucy makes Athena an offer.

Thoughts/Review:

We kinda lost Natsu and Sting in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 134. Yes, there were a couple of small panels featuring each of them, but then there’s nothing to indicate what they are doing while Lucy and Yukino have their moment to shine. I suppose that’s fine, but the fact that I noticed says something.

I feel that Athena’s using some sort of illusionary skill is a bit of a cop out. Okay, it was also so that Lucy and Yukino could lose their clothing, at least for a bit. That aside, I just don’t understand how alchemy equates to illusions. I suppose this is going to be Mashima-sensei saying, “I’m making up the rules of alchemy as I go.”

Regardless, the fact that Lucy springs a deal at the end of the chapter means that she’ll likely offer to help Athena explore her emotions in exchange for letting them go. If Athena does have emotions, does she need to collect the dragon power to try to unlock her emotions? If not, then she lets Natsu and Sting go.

I don’t know. I need to be in bed and I’m rambling. I guess I’ll find out in the next chapter.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 134 is a chapter that gives Lucy and Yukino a chance to shine for a brief time.
